T3 SXSW 2019- The Head & The Heart: An Immersive Concert Experience
At SXSW, we transformed a live performance by The Head & The Heart into a groundbreaking emotional response concert activation.
Partnering with T3’s annual bash, we developed a biometric-powered visual experience that redefined audience engagement through real-time data visualization.
Our team designed a custom Emotional Response Display System, capturing the brainwaves and heartbeats of over 700 attendees to create dynamic, real-time stage visuals.
The result was a fully immersive concert that blended music, interactive video, and art in a way never seen before.
The Technology Behind the Experience:
Brainwaves in Motion
We used EEG monitors (Muse 2 headbands) to measure Alpha, Beta, Delta, Gamma, and Theta waves, providing insights into the audience's emotional state.Heartbeat-Driven Light Show
A custom fingertip sensor tracked heart rate and variability, allowing us to map excitement levels directly to the visual display.Data-Driven Visual Storytelling
With over 4 million data points captured in just two hours, we developed a minimal yet dynamic aesthetic, ensuring each visual was unique to the individual while maintaining the band’s artistic vibe.
Personalized Concert Keepsakes
Beyond the live experience, we turned biometric data into interactive takeaways:
Custom AR-Enabled Posters – Each guest received a concert poster featuring their personal data captured during a song, triggering an augmented reality experience to relive the night.
3D-Printed LED Sculptures – We recreated the real-time visuals into custom 3D-printed keepsakes, embedding LED lights that matched each person’s unique color palette.
This project exemplifies our expertise in experiential development, leveraging biometrics, interactive technology, and creative storytelling to craft unforgettable moments.
